The Minister of Agriculture, Engineer Khaled Al-Hunaifat, signed today at the ministry building with the Fish and Marine Life Farmers Association, in the presence of the association's president, Engineer Mohammed Shaheen, and association members. The agreement aims to follow up, coordinate, and cooperate with the ministry in organizing the work of the Central Fish Market in the capital, Amman, which will be a center for selling and trading local fish.
Al-Hunaifat confirmed, "We are in the process of completing support methods for the aquaculture sector, which included in the previous stage granting interest-free loans and providing extension support, in addition to following up on the central fish market with the Greater Amman Municipality. Today, we are reaching the launch of this official market, which will form a direct marketing method that preserves the product, regulates supply, maintains quality and prices, and opens the horizon for expansion in this sector, which constitutes 5% of local consumption and the market's need for more nomination by the sector."
For his part, the President of the Fish and Marine Life Farmers Association, Engineer Mohammed Shaheen, appreciated the follow-up and support of the Ministry of Agriculture, leading to today's launch of this market, which will form a direct sales platform for the public. It will contribute to regulating the local fish sector, controlling imports, in addition to maintaining the quality of fish offered and encouraging farmers to expand in agriculture
